RUNDUM BETON

The project ‘rundum Beton’ is about analysing concrete and researching new production methods for this material. Its goal is to develop new ways that will give the raw synthetic stone a fresh look. The experiments were conducted with a special kind of concrete.

The high density of this material allows to create surfaces that are very smooth and are comparable in finish to that of ceramics.

Balloons from a toy store are put between wooden plates or lamella type constructions. These are then used as moulds with an elastic membrane. The resulting experimental prototypes are fragile hollow concrete bodies.

The current project ‘like paper’ is based on the experiments of combining concrete and rotational moulding.
